FIL NOIR Our New Brand of Men's Shirts
The brand has a rich history. In 1899 Luca and Lorenzo Manzini took over their father’s business in the Tuscan village of Certaldo. They tailored their shirt collections with an unerring sense of quality, using high class cottons
with a passion for exquisite detail. Soon the brand became a trademark for style and quality and a symbol of Italian clothing culture throughout Europe.

Then, at the beginning of the 20th Century, the brothers made a virtue of necessity when the yarn factories were destroyed in an earthquake and they only had black thread remaining. The crisp white shirts with the black stitching became the favourite shirts of Parisian businessman – they all wanted that particular shirt
with the Fil Noir – the Black Thread.

Then, came World War 1 and all the men went to fight and the brothers had no choice but to close the family business. In 2012, a coincidental encounter in Florence brought Fil Noir back to the world of fine shirts, when the Manzini descendants revived the brand, with the same heart and soul and spirit of craftmanship as in the past, proving that “tradition never goes out of style”.
