The Joy of Books

The Featherston Booktown 3 day event will be held this Friday 20th May - Sunday 22 May

Booktown is a fun festival which celebrates books, writers and literature in many different ways. There are events for everyone from the NZ String Quartet - Scary Music with Joy Cowley lyrics, Author Interviews & Readings, they even have Mr Sainsbury's Antiquarian Book Consultation.

We're so lucky to have Richard Taylor, co-founder of the Weta companies in Wellington and co-owner of Weta and Pukeko Pictures, and children's writer Joy Cowley headline Featherston Booktown.

Richard Taylor is the guest speaker at The Fish and Chip Supper on Friday 20 May. Purchase your tickets for this unmissable event here.

Joy Cowley, who was recently described by American media as the 'Elvis Presley' of children's books, will feature throughout Booktown.

  • Joy Cowley Creative Writing Workshop for adults. Purchase tickets here.
  • New Zealand String Quartet - "Scary Music" lyrics by Joy Cowley and music by Gareth Farr. A great event the kids will love. Purchase tickets here.
  • Saturday 21 May. Joy Cowley reads aloud (1 of 2) at 12pm and (2 of 2) at 2pm. A free event.
